Miami Training Center FGSS was commissioned by Caterpillar Inc. to design their Miami facility for training its customers in the maintenance and function of its products. The project includes a teaching auditorium seating forty students, two large equipment teaching bays, a Generator Set demonstration bay with observation quiet room, three classrooms, a fuels testing (SOS) laboratory, offices, lobby and dining facilities. All instructional spaces are designed with full audio-visual and video-conferencing capabilities. The interiors were designed to showcase Caterpillar products and their function. Construction of the 23,000 sf facility was completed in 1997 at a cost of $2.8 million. FGSS also served as Architectural-Engineering Consultant and as Design Criteria Professional for the expansion and remodeling of the Miami Regional Distribution Center. The project included adding approximately 12,000 sf of office space and the complete remodeling of 11,000 sf of existing office space. Also included in our A-E work was the addition of a separate incoming freight dock area, expansion of the aprons, and re-working of all parking areas. Construction of this portion of the project was completed in 1997 at a cost of $3 million. As Design Criteria Professionals, we worked with Caterpillar to prepare a Design-Criteria Package for a 152,000 sf warehouse addition. We secured Design-Build proposals from several local teams, and acted as the Owner’s Representative during construction. This portion of the project was completed in 1996. |
