The Salvation Army Miami Area Command & Social Services Center
Miami, Florida

FGSS worked with The Salvation Army in the development of this project from site selection, master planning, zoning hearings, through the completion of Phase I. The Miami Area Command / Social Services Center provides over 200 beds for women & children in distress, homeless men & women, & homeless people with AIDS. The facility also provides a full commercial kitchen with dining facilities, social services offices, and the administrative offices for the Miami Area Command. The building has a residential character that mixes well with the surrounding neighborhood. The large courtyard provides a safe and secure outdoor recreational space. Future phases are planned including a fellowship hall & a childcare center. Phase I was completed in February 1995 at a construction cost of $4,100,000.
